Theatre of Slovácko III.
Pacolová, Kateřina ; Wahla, Ivan (referee) ; Sládeček, Svatopluk (advisor)
Main topic of Diploma thesis is to deal with the design of a new building of the Slovácké divadlo in Uherské Hradiště. The project unites the current difficult service of the theater into one objet and moves it next to the historic prison building and the Palace of Justice. The project also proposes a new traffic solution - including the modification of the existing bus station and the surrounding area of the theater building.

The main urban concept is the establishment and completion of a pair of self-standing buildings - the Moravian Museum and the Hvězda Cultural Center. The design of a theater building arises in the vicinity of the cultural area, where the functions complement and support them. Using a height rope, a height dominant is created, located in the city center view. Theater becomes a town-building element. The already adjoining entrance to Kina Hvězda is located in the plot, and its design creates a dialogue and common space between the constructions in front of a space that is adequate to the meaning of the building, but does not limit the function of the park. From the communication on the northern side of the parcel is designed a new object, which deflects and creates peace around the building.

The subject of this diploma thesis is the location and design of a theater building in the body of a regional center - the town of Uherské Hradiště. The existing theater building is housed in a rented Sokolovna (sport-cultural building) on Tyršovo Square. There is also a small stage in a house on Mariánské náměstí. The capacity of the auditorium of the large scene is 370 spectators, corresponding to the needs of the city and the region. However the size of the stage is completely inadequate, the height of the flytower, the absence of back and side stages, Also, the workshops and warehouses are currently located away from the theater. The project addresses the current unfavorable situation of the theater, which is, in the long-term, interest to the city of Uherské Hradiště itself.

For my own proposal I chose an unused site inside a meander of the Morava River. Besides direct contact with the river, the place is marked by its wide visual links to the surrounding areas and, at present, also the separation from the city center. As a result of the proposal, my hypothesis is that the overall regeneration and attraction of the embankment area will be enhanced by a proposed placement of a footbridge connecting both river banks. My aim was to build links between the theater and its outdoor spaces, which open up to the city with its publicly accessible areas. I believe that because of the chosen location on the embankment of the Morava river not only do I propose a public building but to extend the city center itself. One of the main objectives was to connect the natural element of the river and the surrounding environment with art, culture and the city itself.

My intention is to create an open-air theater complex outside the building - a city living room - following the building of a former prison. Object visible from the main road, clearly recognizable, welcoming visitors. Theater composed of three masses created not only for actors, but primarily for its visitors. The object works with the motif of the way through it (possibly around a tranquil pedestrian zone, for example, by shopping, walking, but it provides the opportunity not to be primarily on the way but also on the target.) The current form of the place is unacceptable to the city.
Prison Story
Štefková, Dominika ; Petermann, Tomáš (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
The thesis is a continuation of a pre-diploma project on the stigmatization of buildings and society's perception of buildings that do not have the most pleasant past behind them. The project deals with the question of the new use of the decaying prison in Uherské Hradiště. Through a meaningful program, it seeks to bring the building back to life and incorporate the current 19th century time bubble back into the urban fabric, while not obscuring the grim past of the site. The thesis is a continuation of a pre-diploma project on the stigmatization of buildings and society's perception of buildings that do not have the most pleasant past behind them. It deals with the question of the new use of the decaying building of the former prison in Uherské Hradiště. The project seeks a meaningful program and architectural solution that would bring the building back to life and integrate it back into the urban fabric. The Slovácké Theatre, which operates in Uherské Hradiště, is moving into the building. The Slovácké Theatre is located in the leased space of the former Sokolovna. The big disadvantage of the existing theatre is the small space for its facilities. Workshops and warehouses are not located here at all. In addition, the existing theatre building is located just off a busy road and thus has no space for people to linger after the theatre. On a symbolic level, the theatre is a program that allows the city to deal with the problematic past of the prison building in a lively way. The proposal does not preserve the prison building, it does not "musealize" it. It is not afraid of radical interventions and demolition, which allows not only to harmonize the operation of the theatre with the historical building, but also to make the closed building completely accessible and transparent. Consciously and through architectural design, the object, excluded from society, becomes its own opposite: a social centre accessible to all. A social conscience and a mirror, not a prison, but a theatre. At the same time, the redevelopment does not try to erase the prison past. The remaining fragments of the buildings are left in their rawness, with a clearly legible trace of solitary confinement and a façade in the style of "architecture terrible".

Lososová, Ivana ; Bernátek, Tomáš (referee) ; Sládeček, Svatopluk (advisor)
The main topic of this diploma thesis is to solve problematic situation of the Slovac Theatre in Uherske Hradiste. Today, the progressive theater ensemble is housed in a former Sokol‘s building, which is not capable of fullfilling requirements of a complicated theatrical structure. The theater ensemble's organism is also disturbed by the separation of the studio scene outside the main theater area. The project explores the possibilities of moving the theater to a new building, which is located in Smetanovy sady, close to the historical centre of Uherske Hradiste. The design of the building responds to the environment of the regional city, the needs of a specific theater ensemble and modern theatrical procedures supported by the analysis of Czech theater architecture.
